Eyes on the Wild bingo!

We're in the midst of working with our local library system here in Minnesota to integrate Eyes on the Wild into their summer reading program, whose theme is ADVENTURE. We're really excited about this partnership, which will include displays in five branch libraries, staffed animal-themed programs in three branches, and passive programming / engagement in the rest of the system. As part of this passive programming, we've been thinking about the types of handouts we could create that would get folks classifying but not require input or assistance from library staff. Inspired by conversations with a local TV anchor who made a classification bingo game for her co-workers, we present......

We tried to include a variety of things that have been seen in pictures - not just wildlife, but plants, researchers, weather, cars and animal behavior. As our machine learning components come online to help retire some of the plant/car/people images more quickly, we may have to update this with other wildlife options. For now though, we're hopeful that this will be an easy "gateway" into the project for library patrons of all ages! You can download your own copy of it (with a project summary on the backside) here on our website. Let us know what you think! If you have suggestions of other categories to include (or if you get a bingo!), leave us a comment! We're also happy to hear your deas for other low-effort activities related to the classification workflows. We hope to build more resources like this as time goes on!

Happy hunting for bingos! This awesome coyote was found recently by lindajp and DosGatos.
