Hear from Dr. Meredith directly!

The coronavirus pandemic has upended a whole lot of things at Cedar Creek - including our plans to have prescribed burning be the topic of our monthly Lunch with a Scientist lecture series this month. The pandemic has also made it impossible to host in-person public programs the way we normally do. There is a major silver lining though - the shift to virtual programming means that we will be featuring Dr. Meredith Palmer, calling in from her home in Sweden!, as the speaker this month!

Meredith will be sharing the results of her research at Cedar Creek involving grazing exclosures, wolf urine, and cameras monitoring deer behavior. If you've been volunteering on the project for a while, you know what I'm talking about: you saw Meredith and her interns building the fences, sprinkling the wolf urine, and measuring the vegetation in and outside the fences. If you're new to the project, you may not be familiar with that part of this work but certainly have seen LOTS of images of deer in and around the fenced-off exclosures! Caitlin Potter will also be hopping on the webinar to share more about how volunteers can help with our work, which means this is a great opportunity to invite your friends to learn more about Eyes on the Wild!

Since the lecture will be virtual, you don't have to be in Minnesota to join in. You just have to be awake and on the internet at 11:30am Minnesota time! We hope to see many of you there.

To access the webinar, you'll need to register at z.umn.edu/LWASonline. If you are new to Zoom as a platform or are having trouble, we have a tutorial here. Once you're registered, you can add the webinar to your calendar and you will get an automatic reminder an hour before we start.
